Application Requirements & Eligibility

You must be enrolled as a student at a U.S. or Canadian college or university. The minimum GPA requirement varies by program, and ranges from 2.5 to 3.0. Students with a 3.0 or greater GPA qualify for all ASA programs. Use the Program Locations menu at the top right of our website to navigate to your city, and then click Eligibility to see the GPA requirement. Additional requirements vary by program.

Passport and Visa Requirements

You do not necessarily need a passport at the time you start your application, but many programs require a copy of your valid passport before final enrollment in classes and housing. In some cases a passport is needed early in the visa process. A valid passport must not expire within six months of your return date.

Application Deadlines

Application deadlines vary by program location and term. Apply early whenever possible. Some programs reach capacity before the official deadline. Early applicants typically have the best selection of housing and courses.

Application Review and Acceptance

Once you submit a complete application, most students receive an admission decision within 3–5 business days. You will be notified of your acceptance by email. After acceptance, you will receive instructions outlining next steps, including deposits, required forms, and pre-departure requirements.
